Kevin P. Gwaltney, Ph.D.
Dr. Kevin Gwaltney is Director of Policy in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Kennesaw State University. He supports development, review, approval, and posting of KSU policies, and partners with KSU’s Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Liaison on regional accreditation compliance and reporting. Dr. Gwaltney assists the KSU Office of Institutional Research, especially on projects related to academic programs and faculty. He was a member of the writing team for KSU’s Consolidation Prospectus and Substantive Change Report and served as an internal report editor. In 2011-2012, Dr. Gwaltney was the coordinator of the Strategic Thinking and Planning Committee, which developed the KSU 2012-2017 Strategic Plan. In 2012 and 2013, he contributed to the University’s SACSCOC Fifth-Year Interim Report by coordinating evidential materials of more than 80 educational programs that supported the University’s response for Comprehensive Standard 18.104.22.168. The report was accepted without condition, resulting in two invitations to present at SACSCOC meetings, for which Dr. Gwaltney was a co-presenter. He also co-presented about KSU’s new assessment system at the 2016 Assessment Institute, 2016 SACSCOC Annual Meeting, and 2017 SACSCOC Annual Meeting, the latter being a half-day workshop.
Dr. Gwaltney joined KSU in 2001 and is an Associate Professor of Chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from North Carolina State University. Dr. Gwaltney served five years on the Faculty Senate and Faculty Senate Executive Committee. During that time, Dr. Gwaltney served as KSU’s Faculty Senate President in 2009-2010, which included responsibilities as chair of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, the University Council, and the President’s Planning and Budget Advisory Committee.
